1. What we collect

When you use Study Along Online, we collect:

• Account information: your email address and, if provided, your name.
• Study activity: your answers, timing, bookmarks, and results on practice questions and mock exams, used to power your statistics dashboard and study plan.
• Basic technical data (such as browser type and general usage patterns) to keep the Service reliable, including the country you connect from, derived from your IP address. We don't store the IP address itself.

2. How we use it

We use your information to:

• Provide and maintain your account and study progress.
• Send transactional email (account confirmation, password resets) and, if you opt in, a daily practice digest.
• Review scholarship applications and issue access codes to approved applicants and to project supporters.
• Improve the Service, including the accuracy and coverage of practice content.

We do not sell your personal information.

3. Third-party services

We rely on the following third parties to operate the Service, each of which processes data on our behalf:

• Supabase — authentication and database hosting.
• Vercel — application hosting.
• Resend — transactional and digest email delivery.

These providers may process and store data in the United States and other countries. If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside those regions; where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as our providers' standard contractual clauses, to protect it.

4. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember basic preferences (like dark mode). We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

5. Data retention

We retain your account and study data for as long as your account is active. If your account is deleted, we delete your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we're required to retain records for legal or accounting purposes.

6. Your rights

You can access, correct, or delete your personal data, including deleting your account, by emailing us at the address below. We aim to respond to data requests within 30 days. You can unsubscribe from the daily digest at any time from the digest settings page or via the unsubscribe link in any digest email.

7. Children's privacy

The Service requires account holders to be at least 18, or the age of legal majority in their jurisdiction (see our Terms of Service). It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under that age.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
